Duke Looking at Another Fantastic Year

Austin Rivers is headed to the NBA next season. (Streeter Lecka, Getty ...Duke University is one of the most respected schools in college athletics today. Striving for excellence while giving students a well rounded education is an important goal that Duke is constantly pursuing. The Blue Devils are a perennial powerhouse in basketball in the men’s or woman’s division.

The guys are once again headed up by coach Mike Krzyzewski, fresh off of coaching Team USA to a gold medal in the Olympics. The Devils have a strong team returning and managed to recruit one of the top high school prospects in Matt Jones out of DeSoto, Texas. Matt is a 6’4″ shooting guard that looks to be tailored for the college game already and is sure to add instant scoring and rebounding to the position. There are also a handful of top high school players reported to be considered Duke in their final lists of schools to go to and could turn out to be a very strong recruiting class for the team.

The women’s basketball team is also looking very strong for the year. Coming off a run to the championship game last year and going 15-1 in the ACC, the women signed who many believe was the top high school player in the country in Alexis Jones. She is 5’8″ point guard who is said to have the very highest level of athleticism and a game changing offensive talent.

Often overshadowed by the basketball team, the football team is looking to improve on a disappointed 2011 campaign with the addition of some top recruits. Although not signed yet to attend, the verbal commitments of Evrett Edwards and Jake Kite look to help improve a defense that lost a few key players from last season. The Devils look prime and ready to improve on their 3-9 record last season and be competitive in a rough ACC conference. With all the excellence that Duke is reputable for, this season is looking to be a very exciting one for the school.
